A turn to a new era for the ATHENS MARATHON, which is dedicated to the Balkan Champion and Pacifist Grigoris Lambrakis, during a spectacular ceremony at the Benaki Museum.

The Hellenic Athletics Federation is marching into a new era, presenting the new phase of the Authentic Marathon and its effort for world acknowledgment through the evolution and improvement of its visual identity.

At the presence of the Greek Minister of Tourism, Ms Olga Kefalogianni, the Head of Attica Region, Mr Yiannis Sgouros, representatives of all political parties in Greece, other state and business authorities and running clubs, SEGAS presented the new name of the event.

«ATHENS MARATHON. THE AUTHENTIC».

This is the new name of our Marathon. Based on thorough studies and analysis, this name highlights in the most accurate and precise way the “unique” world “position” of our national heritage, of the Authentic Marathon; a marathon that is not only a “classic” but the only one on the planet that starts from Marathonas and finishes in Athens. This Marathon race, in which SEGAS invites every runner around the world to participate at least once in their lifetime, is entering a new phase, aiming at the top among all major sport and tourist events worldwide.

The new logo of the event was presented, along with audiovisual material and images of new identity. As of today, the official t-shirts of the event are presented to the public and their beauty amazed everyone present.
